FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY!

FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY-- I like to call this one "Ladies in Waiting" Often times it's easy to capture a bride peeking out the window to see what is taking place outside... but Holly was joined by her mother, future mother-in-law and one of her brides maids during this photo, which I think that adds that extra dimension to the image. :+)

FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY!

FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY--  This picture was taken at Nick and Holly's wedding last fall in Port St. Joe.   Occasionally at beach weddings I will be attacked by humming birds, and so will anyone carrying flowers.  Normally I don't get a chance to capture the quick flying birds... but on this occasion it was overly interested in my flash and I was able to get a few shots.  I just think it's funny, even though it's not an artsy picture.

Today's FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY

FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY-- This sweet little girl wasn't keen on being photographed... in the beginning... but as is the case with most children... you just need to relate to them on their level and play and laugh and let them be themselves and not try to morph them into a statue that looks at the camera and smiles ( in my opinion) unfortunately many mother's seem to want those kinds of photos, but luckily not this mother, and I was able to grab this cute picture of her daughter.

FAVORITE PHOTOS OF THE DAY!

I was out of town for a few days so got a little behind on my favorite photos of the day posts... so here comes THREE of them with a little information to explain them.  :-)

1st FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY-- This was a whimsical photo taken during Jessica and Myles' engagement session in Watercolor Florida. We simulated a picnic and I thought it would be funny to have Jessica reading some wedding magazines... and typically the majority of men aren't too interested in the wedding planning process, so I thought it would be funny if Myles had a look of disinterest on his face while she was absorbed in the latest wedding trends.

2nd FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY-- Beth and Dan opted to marry in Vegas and avoid all the expense involved in a traditional wedding... however they were still interested in some cool photos of the two of them taken along our beautiful Gulf Coast... and I think they had the right idea!!

3rd- FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY-- This one has nothing to do with weddings.. but one of my favorite images I took a few years ago while in New Orleans. I was visiting there and wanted to photograph the cemeteries early in the morning with the heavy fog... but I missed my turn off the highway and lost my chance... so I went down by the river and saw this boat.. shortly after a man popped up and hopped on his dingy and came to shore.. like I said, this is one of my favorite images. :+)

A little FYI for brides to be.... :+)

    I recommend reading this article!!!

http://shine.yahoo.com/beauty/bridal-beauty-advice-real-brides-210700685.html

I agree with most of what this article says except the professional make up part.... I do advise using a professional make up artist for your make up... a trial run before your wedding day is GREAT way to insure you are happy with the way you look and that it suits your personal style.
Also, one thing you may not know.... you always want your eyes to "pop" a little more than your usual everyday look. It makes a HUGE difference in your photographs.

Tropical Storm Lee

I hadn't intended to photograph Tropical Storm Lee... but after taking my nieces onto the pier to look at the Gulf of Mexico during the storm... I decided I needed to come back and shoot a bit.
So they headed back home and I hauled butt to my house to get my gear and ran back onto the pier..
after about 30 minutes of shooting... there was hardly any light left and I was done.
Here are a few of my favorite shots from that day.

Jessica and Myles' Wedding Slide Show

Jessica and Myles are one of the sweetest couples I have had the pleasure of photographing. From the day we met over coffee at Amivida Cofee shop in Rosemary Beach, I knew they were a couple that loved and truly respected eachother. As I photographed their engagement session it became even more apparent to me the kindness and care they had for one another.
Their wedding was beautiful and took place at Vue on 30a in Santa Rosa Beach. Being we live at the beach you never know what to expect with regards to the weather and the Gulf of Mexico itself. There was a greater than usual amount of seaweed that was spread everywhere on the sand. Myles knew this would distract from the beauty and elegance of the wedding Jessica wanted.. so what did he do?
Early that morning he came to the beach where their ceremony was held, and gathered up all the dried seaweed that was near their ceremony site and wrote 'I LOVE YOU' in the sand. It was a perfect expression of his love and devotion to his lovely bride.  Take a look at their music slide show to see how their wedding day unfolded and their new life together.. began.

Heather and Chad's music slide show!

If you haven't been to Apalachicola, Florida... you're missing out on this quaint and lovely fishing town. Filled with charm, the people who live there are not your every day folk..  ;-)   Which is totally fabulous!
So when Heather contacted me about the possibility of photographing her and Chad's wedding, I was hoping she would pick me. After meeting the two of them at The Owl Cafe, it was fairly certain we were a good match.
And from viewing their music slide show... I would say, we were.
Congratulations Heather and Chad!

Article written in Illinois newspaper about my work!!

I was so excited to learn that two of my images were picked up along with an article about Dawna and Jeff Shusterman's  September 2010 wedding in Seaside Florida this past fall. It was such a great honor to have the writers feature this in their newspaper The Herald-Review in Decatur, Illinois.
I'm sure it made her mother very happy! And me too!!

buy this photo The wedding of Dawna Tankersley and Jeff Shusterman was featured in Gulf Coast Bride magazine’s winter issue. (Submitted photo)
Just before sunset, with the music of steel drums in the background, Dawna Tankersley and Jeff Shusterman were married on the beach in Seaside, Fla.
A Maroa-Forsyth High School graduate and a graduate of the College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Ga., Dawna insisted that every aspect of the ceremony be perfect, including the photography of this Sept. 25 moment of a lifetime.
Sonja Revells of Panama City, Fla., clicked as the choice.
The result was more than 3,000 images. One image of the bride in a white strapless gown is on the cover of the Gulf Coast Bride magazine's winter issue.
There are photos of the ceremony, photos of the wedding party, photos of the flowers, photos of the beach, photos of the large sand sculpture and photos of the bride and groom rehearsal cakes - hers was a key lime 3D Hello Kitty watching his Rice Krispy treat flat screen TV featuring a "Fox news alert" about the wedding, complete with a chocolate cake remote control.
The only hitch in the fairy tale proceedings was rain during dancing at the reception, also held on the beach. No problem. The 65 guests and the wedding party adjourned to a waterfront bar.
The newlyweds live in Norcross, Ga., an Atlanta suburb. Dawna is a lighting consultant and multi-media artist. Jeff is president of Majority Opinion Research in Atlanta. They plan a honeymoon trip to Bora Bora this year and, eventually, a move to Seaside, a beach town with an old time feel reminiscent of past Northwest Florida, a popular destination for tourists. The architecture emphasizes the front porch.
Dawna and Jeff met in January 2004 when Jeff was shopping for a lighting fixture. She sold him on a light sculpture named "Wish" that she helped design. He sold her on a date and many more during a six-year period.
On a trip to Cabo San Lucas for New Year's 2010, Jeff proposed. They had made many visits to the beaches in the Seaside area, so Dawna quickly picked it as the wedding site. She developed the seating for the ceremony and reception and designed a logo of starfish with their initials D + J, used on printed materials and invitations.
Now Dawna has the chore of scanning those 3,000 photos - all meaningful.
